The wait is finally over! The Digicel IMAX® Theatre is now officially open at One Woodbrook Place. Trinidadians can now enjoy the finest cinema experience on the largest screen in the Caribbean. The Digicel IMAX® Theatre brings enhanced picture, sound and 3D to the giant screen with Hollywood blockbusters and immersive 3D educational films as part of the daily schedule. The cinema, located on the 1st floor of One Woodbrook Place, boasts a capacity of 364 seats and an impressive 70-foot x 40-foot screen. The premium quality even extends to the gourmet popcorn available in several international flavours. Tickets for adults will be $65 for 2D movies and $75 for 3D movies.
Local corporate partner Digicel and sponsors Atlantic, First Citizens, Carib and ANSA Automotive have supported the cause to bring this outstanding technology to the shores of Trinidad & Tobago. Last month the employees of these companies were treated to a very special sneak peek which left everyone in awe and wonder at the crystal-clear images, digital surround sound and immersive 3D. The cinema will proudly open with Cowboys & Aliens featuring Harrison Ford, Daniel Craig & Olivia Wilde and produced by Ron Howard and Steven Spielberg. The enhanced 3D IMAX® version of Transformers 3: Dark of the Moon is also scheduled for a daily morning show.
Ingrid Jahra, CEO of the theatre, stated “The project has taken longer than hoped as we were careful to ensure the Theatre followed IMAX’s patented geometry and high acoustic standards to deliver the famous IMAX experience, but the wait is over. Today, I am proud that Trinidad and Tobago can lay claim to be the first to bring the ultimate movie experience to the Caribbean. Watching movies will never be the same."
Digicel also added their sentiment to the opening of the theatre. Chief Executive Officer, Niall Dorrian noted, “Digicel has always sought to be a market leader and the first off the mark to engage in unique ventures. It is for this reason that we are especially excited to align ourselves with IMAX, a like-minded company. The Digicel IMAX Theatre will revolutionise the cinematic experience for Trinbagonians and it thrills us to be a part of this ground-breaking exercise. Digicel customers can look forward to innovative offers as a result of this new-found partnership. Digicel is also excited about the educational initiatives we will implement, now that the Digicel IMAX is up and running.”
