New Waves - Artist in Residency

The 2012 New Waves! Institute, is currently taking applications for its 2012 Artist-in-Residency Program, to be held from July 18th 2012 to August 1st 2012 in Trinidad and Tobago. This is a self directed residency which means that the artist is free to experiment and explore new directions in the production of their work. Interaction with other artist residents is encouraged through creative collaboration and informal discussion.

The two week program offers intensive master classes and workshops in contemporary dance, Caribbean dance, hip-hop, composition and repertory taught by an outstanding faculty of international dance artists such as Makeda Thomas, Chris Walker, Ananya Chatterjea, Dyane Harvey-Salaam, Rennie Harris, Sonja Dumas, Ras Mikey C, and Delton Frank.

Through informal dialogue and Institute programs, participants create community, build connections with other dance professionals, and experience the unique cultural landscape of Trinidad & Tobago. Classes and workshops will be held, primarily, at the University of Trinidad & Tobago’s, NAPA campus on the Prince’s Building Grounds, Port of Spain.

The cost of this program is $525 USD. Prospective applicants are urged to register as soon as possible to save! UTT/APA students will receive a discount upon registering.
